LULING, TX – According to the San Antonio Express-News, a semi-truck was struck by a train while attempting to cross railroad tracks on U.S. 83 Sunday afternoon.
A Northern Lights Specialized Transport truck was hauling a wind turbine blade on U.S. 83 around 2:30 p.m. The driver was about two-thirds of the way across railroad tracks when the signal arms came down.
The semi-truck was knocked on its side after the tail end of the turbine was struck by a Union Pacific train. The crash damaged multiple unoccupied cars, a commercial building, and the railroad crossing signal controller.
No injuries were reported in the accident. The exact location of the incident is unknown.
