Single-vehicle collision reported following Brownsville police chase

BROWNSVILLE, TX – Police reported a single-vehicle collision as the result of a police pursuit near the South Padre Island International Airport on New Year’s Day.

The car accident occurred within the 1200 block of South Iowa Avenue just west of the entrance to the airport at about 6:51 a.m.

Police say the 21-year-old female driver of a 2008 Pontiac was attempting to flee from police when she collided with a fixed object in the roadway. No information with regard to the circumstances leading up to the pursuit and the ensuing crash has been released at this time.

No injuries were reported as a direct result of this particular Brownsville car crash.
