Suspect responsible for fatal weekend collision identified

SAN ANTONIO, TX – San Antonio police have identified the individual responsible for a crash that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old girl early Sunday morning.

According to News 4 SA, 18-year-old Ivan Joseph Duran has been charged with Intoxication Assault after a high-speed collision killed 18-year-old Dominique Orta.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Prue Road and Bandera Road when Duran attempted to pass Orta in the oncoming lane but was forced to swerve into her vehicle when another car approached. That is when he struck Orta’s vehicle, sending her off the side of the roadway.

Emergency crews worked to lift Orta’s Ford Mustang which had ejected her and came to rest on top of her. Once extricated, Orta was rushed to University Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
