Suspected impaired driver strikes, kills sleeping homeless man

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 24-year-old San Antonio man was taken into custody on intoxication manslaughter charges after hitting and killing a sleeping homeless man late Wednesday night.

According to My San Antonio, the incident was reported shortly before midnight along the NW Loop 410 access road at Vance Jackson Road.

Investigators say 24-year-old Christian Alexis Cazares failed to negotiate a turn and jumped a curb before striking the victim. His vehicle then dragged the man several feet before colliding with a concrete barrier.

Cazares then fled on foot to a nearby parking lot to meet a friend. The same friend later told police where they could locate the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and is facing a number of criminal charges including intoxicated manslaughter and evading police.

No details regarding the identity of the victim have been released at this time.
