CRYSTAL CITY, TX – A Tik Tok celebrity and three others died in a crash during a police chase on Hwy 83 Sunday, NBC reports.
Gabriel Salazar was driving a white Chevrolet Camaro when a Crystal City police officer pulled him over on Hwy 83. The reason why the officer stopped Salazar is unclear.
The pursuit began as Salazar sped away from the officer around 1:20 a.m. At some point during the chase, police unsuccessfully deployed a tire deflation device.
Somewhere on Hwy 83, Salazar’s vehicle went off-road. He then over-corrected, causing the vehicle to skid back across the road and into a ditch. The Camaro collided with multiple trees before rolling over and igniting in flames.
First responders pronounced Salazar dead at the scene of the crash. The other victims were Jose Luis Jimenez-Mora, 41, Sergio Espinoza-Flores, 36, and Jose Molina-Lara, 23.
