Unhitched trailer causes fatal crash on Hwy 77

KINGSVILLE, TX – A unhitched trailer caused a fatal crash when it collided with a pickup truck near Corral Ave on Hwy 77 Tuesday afternoon, Valley Central reports.

According to the police, a grey dually pickup truck was driving north on Hwy 77 when the trailer became unhitched. The trailer crossed the median into the southbound lanes and struck a Ford F-150 driven by Jonathan Limas, 46.

The force of the collision sent the truck through the metal crash guard barrier, where it then rolled over and ejected Limas.

Following the collision, the suspect briefly stopped but then fled the scene.

Limas was pronounced dead at the scene.
