Update: Newborn baby dies following crash near San Antonio’s Inner West Side

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A newborn baby died two days after being born prematurely due to a car accident at 38th St and Amires Pl Friday, KTSA reports.

Gerardo Lozano, 33, was driving an SUV while impaired when he ran a stop sign and slammed into a pickup truck. Three people, including a 2-year-old child, the child’s pregnant mother, and her father, occupied the truck at the time of the collision.

The crash caused the mother to give birth prematurely. The newborn died two days later.

Police have charged Lozano with two charges of intoxication assault and one count of intoxication manslaughter.
