Victim identified in fatal South Side San Antonio collision

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Police in San Antonio have released the identity of the man killed after rear-ending a flatbed tow truck on the Southside Sunday evening.

According to KSAT, 58-year-old Julian Lira died when his 1999 Mercedes Benz crashed into the rear of 2019 Hino flatbed along I-35 near the exit Somerset Road at about 5:30 p.m.

Police believe Lira was traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred and his vision may have been impaired due to the sunlight.

No other injuries were reported as a direct result of the crash.

This is the first fatal San Antonio truck accident and second fatal San Antonio car accident we have covered in 2021.
