Distracted driver causes crash on Buddy Ganem Drive

PORTLAND, TX – A 2017 Chevrolet crashed into a 2010 Chevrolet on Monday afternoon, when the driver failed to follow a yield sign while distracted.

At 12:58 p.m. on May 11, a 28-year-old woman crashed her beige 2017 Chevrolet into a white 2010 Chevrolet driven by a 27-year-old woman. The incident occurred near the intersection of Buddy Ganem Drive and U.S. Highway 181.

An officer from the Portland Police Department reports that the 28-year-old woman failed to yield to oncoming traffic at a yield sign. They believe the driver was distracted when the accident occurred.

The front-right end of the 2017 Chevrolet crashed into the back-left side of the 2010 Chevrolet. Both vehicles sustained minimal damage in the collision.

The police report that neither driver was injured in the accident. The 2017 Chevrolet was carrying four passengers, ages 54, 10, 3, and an infant, at the time of the accident. None of these passengers sustained injuries from the crash.
