Driver charged with manslaughter after fatal crash in San Benito

SAN BENITO, TX – Police have charged a local man with manslaughter after he struck and killed a pedestrian southeast of Harlingen on Monday morning, KRGV reports.

Daniel James Wirsche, 27, fatally struck a woman in the 2300 block of South Business 77 at about 7:30 a.m. on April 5. The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Edna Fay Lasley.

After investigating the incident, police determined that Wirsche had been driving recklessly prior to the collision. He has been charged with manslaughter, and bond has been set at $30,000.
