Former police officer killed by drunk driver in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX — A drunk driver in San Antonio fatally injured a former police officer for the Converse Police Department on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 9pm in the 14300 block of Nacogdoches Road in San Antonio. According to KSAT, a woman was driving while intoxicated on Nacogdoches Road. When a police officer attempted to apprehend her she began speeding and driving dangerously, crossing several lanes of traffic. Next, the driver took evasive action to avoid an oncoming car and crashed into former police officer’s vehicle. Police arrested the woman for intoxication manslaughter.

The former police officer, 58 year-old Rodney Rheiner was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
