Los Fresnos pedestrian killed in auto collision

LOS FRESNOS, TX – Police are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian last Thursday evening, KVEO reports.

Sheriff deputies responded to the corner of Share 27 Road and Highway 100 after receiving reports of an ATV driving illegally on the roadway. They found the ATV abandoned, and on further investigation, discovered the body of Jose Alberto Garcia. The 41-year-old was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 100 as he as attempting to cross the street. It is unclear if he was the operator of the ATV.

Authorities say the driver responsible for the collision stopped and attempted to render aid.

Investigations are ongoing.
