Police Officer crashes vehicle and dies while responding to call

SAN ANTONIO, TX – An Alamo Colleges Police Officer suffered a cardiac arrest and crashed his vehicle while responding to a shooting call.

Officer Lionel Martinez, 62, received the call at around 10 p.m. and was on the way to respond when he suffered a heart attack and crashed his vehicle into a parked car on East Dewey Place near McCullough Avenue. It is unclear if anybody was inside the parked car at the time of the accident.

According to Fox San Antonio, emergency responders initiated CPR and then transported Martinez to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
