Street racer fatally collides with driver on Prue Rd

SAN ANTONIO – An illegal street race turned deadly when a racer fatally collided with another driver head-on overnight, KENS 5 reports.

The race began on eastbound Prue Rd, which has two lanes. It involved a BMW and a Mercedes.  The BMW was going the wrong way in the westbound lanes when it struck a Nissan head-on.

Dispatchers sent emergency crews to the crash site around midnight and transported one occupant of the Nissan and the driver of the BMW to an area hospital. The Nissan driver died at the hospital.

According to police, the driver of the Mercedes returned to the scene of the accident following the crash. Officers arrested him for Racing-Death, Manslaughter, and Racing-SBI. The driver of the BMW will be charged with the same offenses.

The case is still under investigation.
