Suspected intoxicated driver crashes at railroad crossing

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A driver, who police suspect was intoxicated, ran their truck into two railroad crossing arms early on Monday morning.

News 4 San Antonio reports that the accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on May 18. The driver crashed at the railroad crossing near the intersection of Southeast Military Drive and South Presa Street.

Police officers on the scene reported that the crossing arms caused significant damage to the front-end of the vehicle. The driver also sustained injuries in the crash and the police transported the driver to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers intend to test the driver for alcohol and drugs to determine if the driver will be charged for driving while intoxicated.
