Update: Authorities release the name of fatal train crash victim

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office has released the name of the victim who was fatally struck by a train on October 12, San Antonio Express-News reports.

David Escobar, 66, was pushing a grocery basket across the tracks on the 600 block of W Olmos Dr when the basket became struck. The train’s engineer blasted his horn to war Escobar that the train was approaching. Escobar had freed the basket just before he was run over by the train.

Dispatchers sent paramedics to the scene of the accident around 5 p.m. They performed CPR on Escobar before pronouncing him dead.
