Update: Medical Examiner releases name of pedestrian killed on Zarzamora St

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The name of the man who was killed while crossing South Zarzamora St Tuesday night has been released by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to KSAT.

The incident occurred at about 9 p.m. in the 5700 block of S Zarzamora, as Rugelio Zavala Torres, 65, was pushing a grocery cart on his way to a convenience store. As Torres crossed the street, a silver car swerved and missed striking him.

Torres was then struck by a Ford F-150 which was behind the silver car. The driver of the F-150 driver did not see Torres at the time of the collision.

Following the crash, the driver of the F-150 remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Officers do not believe impairment or speed were factors in the collision. Charges are not expected to be filed against the driver at this time.

Torres was pronounced dead around 9:20 p.m. The Medical Examiner ruled that Torres died from blunt force injuries which were sustained in the collision.
