Update: Officials ID man who died after crashing his semi-truck into a tree

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Officials have identified the semi-truck driver who died after colliding with a tree near S Zarzamora St and Hunters Pond Wednesday.

According to KSAT, Otis Dewayne Nelson, 39, was leaving work when he strayed off the road and slammed into a tree at around 6:40 a.m.

Firefighters extracted Nelson from the vehicle and pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.

Authorities believe the crash may have been caused by Nelson falling asleep while driving.
