Update: Police identify victim from fatal ATV accident

MERCEDES, TX – According to Fox South Texas, authorities have released additional information concerning the fatal ATV crash that took the life of a teen Sunday.

Jennitsa Marisa Zarate, 14, was driving a Polaris Ranger XP at high speeds on Dawnson Rd when she lost control of the vehicle near Mile 9 Rd. The ATV rolled over and landed on Zarate.

First responders pronounced Zarate dead at the scene of the crash around 11:20 a.m. They also transported Zarate’s two female teen passengers to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The current condition of Zarate’s passengers is unclear at this time.
