Wintery weather causes major pileups across Texas

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Emergency crews in both Austin and Fort Worth responded to major collisions, each involving at least 20 vehicles on Thursday morning.

According to KSAT, officials in Fort Worth responded to a collision involving upwards of 50 vehicles at about 6 a.m. along I-35. At least five people were killed as a result of the crash and over 30 sent to local hospitals for treatment.

Police are working to reunite those involved in the collision as the portion of I-35 near I-30 will be shut down until further notice.

Paramedics with Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to a pileup involving 26 vehicles. The accident took place shortly before 9 a.m. within the 13000 block of SH-45.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the Austin car accident.
