Worker killed in trench collapse near Buc Stadium

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A worker was killed yesterday when the trench he was working in collapsed on top of him, KIII reports.

Firefighters were called to a private worksite on Leopard Street, right in front of Buc Stadium, where they were told a worker had been trapped when a trench caved in.

It took firefighters almost six hours to safely recover the worker’s body. He has been identified as 21-year-old Jason Villalobos of Houston.

Investigators at the local, state, and federal level are looking into the incident. We will have more details as they are made public.
