Rollover accident kills 9-year-old girl

SAN BENITO, TX – A young girl died after she was ejected from a car in a rollover accident early Sunday morning.

The Valley Morning Star reports that the accident occurred at approximately 1:17 a.m. on May 17. A Ford Expedition rolled over multiple times after crashing on West Expressway 77 near Interstate 69. The vehicle came to a stop in a yard near the highway frontage road.

Police officers believe the 9-year-old girl was thrown from the vehicle as it was rolling. Officials found her body outside of the car near 1700 West Expressway 77. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. At this time, officers are not releasing the child’s name or any other identifying information.

Four other people in the vehicle sustained serious injuries during the accident. They were all transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The police are still investigating what caused the Ford to crash.
