Two dead in single-vehicle crash in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, TX –  A single-vehicle crash on Brownsville’s east side left two people dead on Tuesday. According to Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Sergeant Maria Montalvo, the accident occurred when the driver, 18-year-old Martha Itzel Martinez-Garcia lost control of her white Chevy Malibu while heading eastbound on Houston Road near North Vermillion. She reportedly lost control of her vehicle, which went airborne and struck a utility pole, killing her and her passenger, 18-year-old Jose Guadalupe Camacho on impact.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Details of the crash are still under investigation, and our team will continue to post updates as they are released.
