Two hospitalized after passenger car collides head-on with charter bus

LIVE OAK COUNTY, TX – Two people were hospitalized and several more injured after a Chevy passenger car collided with a charter bus on Wednesday night, according to KIII.

DPS troopers said the collision occurred on U.S. Highway 59, between George West and Freer, just after 9 p.m. The charter bus was heading south on 59, traveling from Houston to Mexico, when a Chevy passenger car driving north crossed the center line and collided head-on with the bus. There were 20 people inside the bus.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to a hospital in Corpus Christi by HALO-Flight, where he’s said to be in serious condition. One passenger on the bus was also hospitalized, with less serious injuries. Several other passengers on the bus were treated for minor injuries without being hospitalized.

Authorities said the crash is currently under investigation.
