Update: driver who caused death of former police officer identified

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash which caused the death of a former police officer has been identified by police.

The accident occurred on Tuesday night on Nacogdoches Road in San Antonio. A policeman initially pulled the driver over for driving strangely. She proceeded to flee from the policeman detaining her and drive into oncoming traffic. She then swerved to avoid a car and struck another vehicle carrying Rodney Rheiner, a former Converse police officer. The impact severely injured Rheiner. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Police have identified the driver as 23 year-old Jeanne-Nicole Bernice Coutros. She is currently being charged with intoxication manslaughter.
