Update: Officials release additional information concerning fatal drag race at airport

KERRVILLE, TX – More information has been released concerning the fatal drag racing crash that claimed the life of two children Saturday at the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport, NBC FW reports.

Michael Gonzales, 34, was driving a Ford Mustang when he lost control of the vehicle. The race car fishtailed off the runway and into a grassy area where it collided with multiple spectators.

A 6-year-old and an 8-year-old boy died in the collision. A 27-year-old and a 46-year-old woman were critically injured.  Gonzales and a 26-year-old man are in stable condition at an area hospital. A 4-year-old boy and a three-month-old girl were examined at a hospital and were then released.

Two adults were treated and released at the scene of the accident.

Authorities have not released the names of the children who died at this time.
