Update: Victim of fatal car-vs.-bike accident in San Antonio identified

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The woman who was killed when her bicycle was struck by an intoxicated motorist on Wednesday has been identified as Beatrice Gonzales.

KSAT reports that hundreds of bicyclists gathered near 1400 N Mary Street yesterday, the site of the fatal collision, to honor her memory and advocate for safer road conditions. The mother and grandmother was an avid cyclist, and belonged to the Beers and Gears Cycling Crews San Antonio club.

Samantha Castillo, 24, is believed to have been the driver who struck Gonzales. She has been charged with charged with intoxication manslaughter.
