WESLACO, TX – A driver was backing up on East Moreland Drive near FM 1015 when she hit the back of another vehicle.

The accident occurred at 3:43 p.m. on Friday, May 8, according to a report from the Weslaco Police Department. A 65-year-old woman was reversing in a gray 2012 Ford when the vehicle crashed into a 28-year-old driver in a silver 2016 Chevrolet. The Fordā€™s driver failed to ensure the road behind her car was clear before driving in reverse.

The Fordā€™s back-left bumper hit the Chevroletā€™s back-right bumper in the incident. Both vehicles sustained minimal damage from the collision. The drivers were able to move their cars from the scene after the accident without tow-truck assistance.

The police report that neither driver was injured in the accident. A 68-year-old male passenger in the Chevrolet also sustained no injuries.

Officials at the scene determined that the Ford was at fault in the accident because the driver backed-up at an unsafe time.
