What is a Petition?

You and your attorney have exhausted all avenues to try and get your case settled. You have been patient. You have been reasonable. So what happens when youā€™re left with a bad settlement offer that you know is unfair? The only option you are left with is drafting a petition and filing suit.

So what is a petition? A petition is a formal complaint to the court asking for relief. This is the first step in filing your lawsuit. The petition outlines who you are suing, where you are suing them, why you are suing them, the damages, and for how much you are seeking in recovery. I have an example of part of a petition below:
